Soup eatery eyes Dayton market
By Tim Tresslar, Staff Writer
An executive for Zoup! Fresh Soup Co. says the company plans to bring its fast-casual soup restaurant concept to the Dayton region over the next couple of years.
The area would support at least two Zoup! franchise locations, said Richard Simtob, a co-owner of the company. Executives believe the Dayton and Cincinnati market could support up to nine stores.
Franchisees operate nine stores in Ohio in Columbus, Cleveland and Toledo, Simtob said.
A franchisee for the Southfield, Mich.-based firm already has opened one restaurant in Cincinnati and plans to open a second either in downtown Cincinnati or northern Kentucky, Simtob said.
Established nearly 13 years ago, the restaurant chain offers a dozen different soups, along with bread, each day.
